Expertise: Project Management
We provide management services as well as project managers to our clients, particularly those with multi-disciplinary or management intensive projects. Teams are selected from the company's extensive skill base to provide the best expertise mix for every project. The glue that binds all of Beca AMEC's disciplines and skills into a cohesive service, project management underscores the team's reputation for delivering a complete, engineering solution. And integral to it all are proven methodologies. Typical projects comprise two phases: pre-implementation - identifying strategic opportunities and conducting pre-feasibility/feasibility studies - and implementation, covering detailed engineering and procurement, construction, training and commissioning. In each case, the team prepares a project definition outlining the overall scope of work and services. Scope of work describes the process, major equipment elements, design criteria, and the physical aspects of the project. Other processes that may be required - geotechnical surveys and resource consents, for example - are also identified. A scope of services provides an overview of services Beca AMEC will provide. This typically includes engineering, controls and automation, project services, administration, construction management, commissioning and hand over. The team also creates a schedule to ensure the entire operation runs according to its timeline. It indicates the start and finish timing for the project's major stages. A procurement plan defines how items will be procured (fixed price, cost plus, target estimate, inclusive or exclusive of freight, taxes or other charges). Project management is a Beca AMEC speciality - a rigorous process that guarantees efficiency and cost-effectiveness - and ensures the job is completed on time, and within budget.
