In any plant modification or re-fit, accurate as-built data on the existing infrastructure is critical. With accurate records hard to maintain, available plans can bear little resemblance to the reality of what's actually on your site. 3D Laser Scanning is the Beca AMEC solution. A highly intelligent measurement and visualisation tool, it uses a laser scan to develop extremely precise and complete three-dimensional models of even the most complex plant and equipment. These models create a highly accurate visual and electronic database of your facility's infrastructure: a powerful information management and planning tool that saves both time and money. While manual measurement can be inaccurate, costly, unsafe and disruptive, 3D Laser Scanning produces amazingly accurate and finely detailed plans of a facility with substantially reduced field survey time and costs, minimal risk to personnel and no need for plant shutdown. Laser Scanning is today's most cost-effective technology for gathering three dimensional plant data. There is actually less site measurement work required, because the need for separate surveys by each engineering discipline is eliminated. And there is generally no need to return to the site. Yet, with accuracy to within 5 mm, the result is a far more precise picture of your facility's true configuration than is otherwise achievable. With Laser Scanning, a series of precisely positioned survey reference targets are placed throughout your facility. A laser scans the area and produces a point cloud of individual measurement points of the complete area, which are cross-referenced to the survey targets to produce 3D models, illustrating actual as-built conditions with startling accuracy. This stored 3D data facilitates our design, planning and engineering simulations, as well as accurate site inspections and on-going analysis. It is also available to you in your specified format - as CAD files, video plant walkthrough or hardcopy renderings - for your future management and planning for the life of your plant.
