As a Senior Process Engineer at Beca AMEC, Shane has been active in the pulp and paper industry for 10 years. Shane enjoys the industry as it presents many challenges that stem from the entire spectrum of the chemical engineering field. He also likes to keep up with the latest developments in cellulosic technology.
With a technical background in pulp and paper manufacturing from the Australian Pulp and Paper Institute (APPI) combined with four years at the Visy Integrated Pulp and Paper Mill, Shane has a solid experience in forest products and understanding of the motivators of modern era manufacturing and market competitiveness.
Since joining Beca in 2006, Shane has worked in a variety of process engineering roles with exposure to Due Diligence studies, Feasibiilty Studies, Energy Studies, Process Modelling and Mass Balance creation, HAZOP leadership and Commissioning.
Shane’s recent major projects include the commissioning of the Automated Batch Digesters and Lapping Machine at Australian Paper's Maryvale Mill, and he was Project Manager for a greenfield sawmill feasibility and design basis study at Bombala, New South Wales.
Shane also has exposure to the explosives, metals refining and water industries, which have helped provide a platform for technological similarities and transfer of ideas.
