Arthur has over 14 years' experience in the pulp and paper industry covering a variety of roles from process engineering to plant management. He is sought after for his mill optimisation, business case analysis and strategic business development skills. He has particular expertise in de-inking facilities, linerboard and plasterboard liner manufacturing, mill optimisation studies and project and opportunity analysis for mergers and acquisitions.
Arthur comes from a background in paper manufacturing with Australia’s largest private pulp and paper company. Commencing as a process engineer, he then shifted into maintenance engineering, manufacturing supervision and plant mill management including an overseas posting in the UK for two years.
He has been with Beca AMEC since 2006. Arthur currently manages the industrial business unit in Melbourne and oversees all projects in the pulp and paper, wood products and bioprocess industries. This has enabled him to step outside the manufacturing environment and apply his strong operational skills to business cases, strategic analysis and operational improvements. The company has also allowed him to utilise his legal skills in contractual situations and develop best practice analysis documentation for Beca AMEC’s high level clients.
In the last five years, Arthur’s project record includes a water optimisation project for Norske Skog Albury, a mill optimisation study around Jiangxi Chenming Light Weight Coated in China, and optimisation of a stock preparation facility at a paper machine in Malaysia.
