“Beca AMEC really reflects the value of relationships, not only with our clients and project stakeholders but also between our project teams.”

John joined Beca AMEC in 1992 and has not looked back since. Prior to this, he spent three years as a graduate in the paper industry working in the control and instrumentation field at Australian Paper’s Maryvale mill in Victoria, Australia.

Graduating from Monash University with an electrical engineering degree, John went on to gain project management experience covering all phases of a project’s life-cycle, including Occupational Health and Safety.

This strong industry background placed him in a solid position to help progress Beca AMEC’s growth aspirations. His current range of responsibilities includes client relationships, marketing support and job directorship on several projects; helping Beca AMEC to develop new relationships and expand our scope on existing projects.

In return, the company has provided John with plenty of opportunities to progress his career. “Throughout my time here I’ve been supported by strong mentors and offered opportunities to work in different places and industries,” he says. “I’ve also had a combination of technical, project, people and business management roles, which has given me a flavour of diversity and a taste for new challenges.”

Key projects John has been involved in include Celpac pulp mill in Chile with CADE AMEC (HA Simons and Cade-Idepe at the time), Australian Paper’s No. 5 Paper Machine upgrade, and the implementation of a new process information system for Norske Skog’s Albury Mill.

Whatever the project scale, Beca AMEC is able to offer a comprehensive and professional service.
