The Ken Maddern award is given to the best peer reviewed paper published in Appita Journal in the year. |

The best paper of the 65th Annual Appita Conference was awarded to Murray Ellis of Australian Paper and Tony Johnson of Beca AMEC. The paper was based on optimisation work carried out by Beca AMEC and subsequently implemented by Australian Paper that resulted in nearly a 10% increase in pulp output from the Maryvale mill. The study identified bottlenecks and process improvements and subsequent solid work executed by the mill meant the production gains were realised. |
The ACENZ Awards of Excellence are an annual celebration of innovation in engineering design. |

|
Innovative and collaborative solutions were key to the unusual task of improving seismic resilience of this high pressure power boiler Beca AMEC carried out a series of increasingly sophisticated analyses including non-linear time-history analysis simulating the effect of seven likely earthquake types that could affect the site. |
The APPITA Oertel Nadebaum Distinguished Service Award is designed to provide recognition to Appita members who have made substantial non-technical contributions to APPITA over a period of years. A member under consideration for the award should have been active in APPITA for at least 10 years. |
